About Steve

No matter the size of your event - from an intimate cocktail gathering to a black tie dinner - if you need an organiser and host to ensure your guests are entertained and enthused, look no further than Steve Davie.
Steve is the consummate event manager (from concept, to organisation, to hosting duties) and will ensure your event is both highly successful and your guests leave exhilarated.
Extremely well-connected, Steve has the contacts - local, national and international. He has 30-plus years of experience and proven success in event management. A perfectionist, he works tirelessly and leaves nothing to chance to ensure a stress-free, seamless and rewarding outcome for his clients.
Steve is a highly regarded and proven corporate host and fundraising events manager who has organised and hosted more than 300 functions – breakfasts, lunches, dinners, golf tournaments, business reviews and strategic planning, and book launches – for various individuals, corporate and charity groups since 1993.
He is particularly adept at bringing events together to generate business for his clients, being involved from the conception, through the event’s organisation to the hosting itself.
Steve has been on the public speaking circuit for the last 30 years and was heavily involved in 2011 Rugby World Cup hospitality throughout the country.
After a full-time career in newspapers and radio, Steve successfully launched and administered the Skeggs Foundation (1993-2001) and the Otago Boys’ High School Foundation (2004-2009). He raised $6.5 million for the Otago Medical Research Foundation between 2010 and 2020.
He is a sought-after and highly respected public speaker, Master of Ceremonies and host … and is well known as a long-standing member of the New Zealand sporting media. He began broadcasting cricket on radio in the 1983/84 season, was rugby's radio commentator in Dunedin from 1984 to 1991, covered the 1990 Auckland Commonwealth Games and broadcast rugby on Sky Television from 1996 until 2013. He has travelled overseas on both radio and television assignments.
Steve has advised a number of leading sporting personalities, including double Olympic Games swimming gold medallist Danyon Loader, former Silver Ferns netball captain Lesley Rumball (nee Nicol) and former New Zealand test cricketer Matthew Bell.
He withdrew from public life in mid-2020 to care for his wife Louise who was  diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. After Louise died at Christmas-time 2022, Steve established the Louise Davie Charitable Trust which raises funds for research aimed at finding an early marker for the disease.
